A lot of questions have been asked on different social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, etc. what is the best place to find or create good 3d characters? There may be several answers to these kinds of questions. But the answer is very simple, either create or use free ones. I have been using MakeHuman Free Software to create characters and I like the software. It is very intuitive, though the rigging can be a bit problematic like posing fingers, for example, can be challenging. I never realized just how intricate the positioning of fingers could be for something as seemingly simple as having a character sit and read a book until I had to create such a pose in Blender using a MakeHuman-created character. I really think someone needs to develop a built-in constraint to prevent fingers from being bent in anatomically impossible ways since it is very easy to do that by accident, and usually a bit difficult to untangle once the wrong bends have been made enough times. You can use several different sites that allow you to download characters for animation. Popular free sites include Sketchfab, Models-Resource, Kenney Assets, Quaternius Assets, OpenGameArt, etc. Best of luck in your journey of creation/research of 3D character models.
